How to convert an address into GPS coordinates

People enter street names and cities, not latitude and longitude. Geocoding bridges that gap by turning a text search into possible geographic positions that software can display or analyze.

How does it work?

Start with as much address context as the user can provide. A street name alone may exist in dozens of cities. Submit the phrase, display candidates with region labels and save the location after the user selects it.

Where can you use this API?

Keep both the original text and the selected result. This preserves an audit trail when an address is corrected later. Do not force a false match when the service finds nothing; allow manual correction.

What should you consider?

Protect API credentials, cache repeated searches and distinguish location matching from official postal deliverability checks.
